Gwent's latest expansion, Merchants of Ofir, is available now

The latest expansion for Gwent, Merchants of Ofir, is available now. It will bring a whole bunch of cards to the game alongside a new mechanic and card type that will aim to keep Gwent feeling fresh.

In total, this expansion brings 70 new cards to the game with elite warriors for all 6 factions being included. On top of that, there will be 11 neutral cards that you can test out with your set up to see what slots nicely into your current deck.

There will also be a new card type amongst this batch called stratagems. There are 12 of these in total and they will determine a bonus that you'll get every time you go first in a match. Similarly, there will also be a mechanic introduced called Scenarios, which are faction specific.

There are kind of like mission-based cards that progress when you meet the criteria. For instance, Monster's Hunt will activate each time you play a Deathwish. The first instance with spawn a Desert Banshee whilst subsequent Deathwish plays will see a Barghest and Nightwraith get played.

This news follows last weeks announcement that the console versions of Gwent will be shutting down next year. Fortunately, if you still want to play Gwent with that data you will be able to transfer your progress to a GoG account that has no Gwent progress on it.

With the release of the iOS version that means you'll be able to play Gwent on the go or on PC once you've transferred your progress over. An Android version is still in the works with a reported released date of Q1 2020, so we Android players should be hopping into Gwent before the end of March.

Gwent is available now on the App Store. It's a free-to-play game with in-app purchases.
