Dream Detective is an object hunting game for iOS and Android with a beautiful art style

Dream Detective is an upcoming object finding game from FunPlus. Normally, this isn't the most exciting genre for me but this game has a lovely art style that's worth talking about alone. The game will be heading to iOS and Android devices on 4th December.

In Dream Detective, you play as Allie who ends up in a place called Dream Land one afternoon. Here a Time Crystal has been shattered causing the world to become unstable. Allie will have to restore order to this realm by finding certain objects from a list that might be out of place in each scene. So it's pretty much high stakes Where's Wally, or Waldo if you're American.

It does appear to pay homage to various moments in history, popular culture in general throughout the various scenes you'll be hunting for specific objects in. For instance, in the trailer below you can see Edvard Munch's 'The Scream', 101 Dalmations and Ancient Egyptian Tombs. So there's a fair bit of variety on offer.

All of these different scenes, of which there will be over 200 in the final version, are all designed with this cute, chic art style that I really like. It's the type of visual style where I could see myself wanting to complete the levels just so that I can see what the next one looks like.

Whether or not that they can make searching for objects over 200 levels interesting or not, I'm not too sure. They're promising a fairly in-depth sounding narrative with thousands of lines dialogue and various characters you'll meet along the way. So if the story is suitably gripping that might be enough to keep people playing.

Dream Detective will be available on the App Store and Google Play on December 4th with pre-registering available now if you'd like. It will be a free-to-play game with in-app purchases.
